Within the context of “Training for Developing Institutional Capacity for Adapting to Climate Change” project, funded by the European Union and co-managed with T.R. Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation, 150 attendees from different ministries came together for the purpose of Institutional Capacity Gap Analysis and Training Needs Analysis Workshop on Monday the 29th of March.
Opening speech of the activity was given by Mr. Mustafa Bülent Üncü, Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation EU and Foreign Relations General Director and IPA Program Authority Chairperson, and Dr. Çiğdem Tuğaç, Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation Environment Management General Directorate Climate Change and Adaptation Department Local Climate Change Policies Branch Director. During his speech, Mr. Üncü drew attention to the importance of cooperation at both regional and international levels regarding climate, which has become a global issue.
During the first part of the workshop, the results of the ‘Training Needs and Gap Analysis”, conducted for Climate Change and Air Management Coordination Board members, were presented and evaluated. Information was shared on the training program, of which contents were prepared in line with the training needs and gap analysis results. Project internet page content and training portal were introduced.
During the second part of the workshop, sector-based group activities were realized for the purposes of ensuring cooperation, adaptation, and strengthening communication between institutions. Through these groups, opinions were exchanged by the attendees, under the steering of expert moderators, on the topics of activities realized in the participants’ own organizations and the past, present, and future of climate change. Expert moderators in the groups shared the opinions matured within their groups with the other groups. The consensus was reached in regards to the importance of cooperation and adaptation among different groups for the issue of climate change, and the program was concluded.
